This is one more over-ambitious debut by a young Australian writer, similar to “Seven Types of Ambiguity” by Perlman, not only in its all too redundant style but also in the choice of bizarre characters.

And again this reader here is annoyed: another oh how ingeniously invented bunch of family members to give the author´s autobiographical outpouring more originality than you can digest without trouble.

The critical acclaim for this debut reminds me of “The Emperor´s new Clothes”- fairy tale. Probably you have to praise a book that you managed to read through 700 pages, but honestly, it is not worth it.
