Nancy Bartholomew wrote this debut mystery as a true follower of Janet Evanovic. She invented a similarly exotic main character to Stephanie Plum with stripper Sierra Lavotini, who lives in a trailer park in Panama City. Her table dance appearances are described in loving, steamy detail, but her only true friend is her tiny dog Fluffy.
When a fellow stripper and her dog Arlo disappear, Sierra and her gang of crazy friends put their collective wits together to solve the mystery. Of course she gets into trouble with the police and is reluctantly helped by John Nailor and the FBI-man Lyle. Donīt they remind you of Morelli and Ranger?
But hard as Bartholomew tries, she canīt compete with the original.
