Belinda Bauer worked as a journalist and screen writer, before she became a full time writer. Her thrillers got  several British awards, so she must have something interesting to tell. She lives in Wales.

This novel features an 11-year-old boy, who is left with his two younger siblings in a broken down car at the roadside, waiting for their mother to return, which she never does. Three years later, their father has also disappeared, leaving young Jack in charge.

I must confess, I could not read this story: first the perspective of an 11-year-old is not convincing, second, Bauer tells her story from so many different angles, that I, at least, became rather weary, lost interest, honestly.
