Steadman Catherine

Mr Nobody

Simon&Schuster, London 2020

Galbraith3

Catherine Steadman is a young TV actress turned writer. This is her second psychothriller, written in breathless, often careless style. A critical editor would have done good.

Her heroine, London based neuropsychiatrist Dr Emma Lewis, is called to examine a patient with severe memory loss, her field of expertise. She comes back to Norfolk, where she herself experienced a terrible family tragedy 14 years ago. To overcome her trauma of those events when she was just 16 she chose the field of psychiatry as her profession and has become quite renowned.

The patient turns out to be a mixture of “The time Traveller (`s wife)” and “The Bourne identity”, so nothing really new, if less and less convincing in the course of the story.
